Susceptible genetic polymorphisms and their association with adverse effects of orlistat therapy

چکیده
Orlistat is a tetrahydrolipstatin, which inhibits both pancreatic and gastric lipase enzymes in the gut prevents absorption of dietary fats intestine. Therefore, it widely used as an anti-obesity medication to control manage body weight obese patients worldwide. Despite this, mounting number clinical studies report that orlistat treatment induces adverse effects like pancreatitis, hepatic failure, kidney stone, acute oxalate nephropathy, others. Although various factors could mediate orlistat, emerging shreds evidence suggest genetic polymorphism-associated be primary reason for cause. Hence, this review, we first collated most critical caused by then appraised susceptible polymorphism further worsen orlistat. Nonetheless, review warrants similar conceptual approaches understand orlistat's selective improve therapeutic outcome

Association of CAT C-262T and SOD1 A251G single nucleotide polymorphisms susceptible to gastric cancer
Oxidative stress is known to be one of the major factors involved in the development and progression of cancer. Oxidative stress can occur due to an imbalance between concentrations of reactive oxygen species and antioxidant capacities. Catalase (CAT; OMIM 115500) and superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1; OMIM 147450) play important roles in the primary defense against oxidative stress. In the present ...

Background: Canine hip dysplasia (CHD) is an orthopedic disorder characterized by abnormal laxity of the hip joint. It is considered multifactorial and polygenic and affects predominantly medium and large sized dog breeds. Aims: The aim of this study was to identify CHD associated polymorphisms in chromosomal regions on CFA19, CFA24, CFA26, and CFA34. M...

Association of Environmental Arsenic Exposure, Genetic Polymorphisms of Susceptible Genes, and Skin Cancers in Taiwan
Deficiency in the capability of xenobiotic detoxification and arsenic methylation may be correlated with individual susceptibility to arsenic-related skin cancers. We hypothesized that glutathione S-transferase (GST M1, T1, and P1), reactive oxygen species (ROS) related metabolic genes (NQO1, EPHX1, and HO-1), and DNA repair genes (XRCC1, XPD, hOGG1, and ATM) together may play a role in arsenic...
